sap boiling

Mr. Donahue's classes had a great day yesterday for boiling sap. Students have recently learned the biology of syrup making including photosynthesis, respiration, carbon cycle, and even a tie-in to mitosis. Students have been collecting sap, and with some new student engineering, this year we were averaging 20 gallons of evaporation per hour.

Students have recently learned the biology of syrup making, including photosynthesis, respiration, carbon cycle, and even a tie-in to mitosis. Just as importantly is teamwork, community, and experiencing a local culturally significant activity. School is important for both of these things.

Thank you for everyone who collected and brought in sap. The kids are looking forward for the pancakes in the coming days.
