noodle ball

Today GHS teachers took the time to get to know their students and build positive relationships.  Kids went to their classes as usual, but each teacher had different games and activities. Kick ball, noodle ball, disc golf, card games, yard games, and basketball were some of the activities our teachers played with the kids.

Principal Elizabeth Brown described the purpose of the day saying, "Having a successful school includes two things: positive culture and high achievement. Today was all about culture-building and having many of our first interactions with our students positive. Kids get to see teachers as people, and our teachers get a chance to talk with kids informally and get to know them. Building positive culture is critical in helping our students feel connected and supported which helps them feel comfortable enough to learn. We need to give our kids something to run to, not run away from."

Students were energetic and engaged throughout the day giving positive feedback, but were tired by the end of the day. The activities today wrapped up the first week of school for GHS.
