GIS participated with law enforcement in a lockdown drill today. Staff was prepared and students did well. Please remind your students to follow adult directions and remain quiet. Tomorrow ends our annual Red Ribbon Week can food drive. We'll count donations until 11:30am. We are currently short. Have a great day!

I saw many cans being brought in this morning. We are still many cans away from our goal. We can do it. Tomorrow is crazy sock day.

Good afternoon. Just reminding GIS families of our annual food drive. Our school goal is 2,000 cans. If we reach that goal, Mr. Randle will be eating GIS stew. Can collecting will be taking place until noon this Friday. We appreciate your continued support.

GIS Cross Country Update: Due to a schedule change with JH runners, the new GIS start date is Tuesday, September 12th.

Welcome to GIS! Doors open at 7:50am. You'll be able to walk your student/s to class the first day. Please exit doors by 8:15am. Remind your student to eat breakfast. Both breakfast & lunch are free. We'll dismiss at 12:45pm. Please be patient with dismissal. We will not allow students to exit the building until all buses are lined up. Thanks for all you do. We look forward to a great year!

A friendly reminder that our Open House is 4-5pm. Staff are actively participating in school professional development until 3pm. From 3-4pm they'll be focused on preparing for your arrival. Doors will open at 4pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

Due to a shooting Beaverton and although we have no reason to believe there is any danger to our students, out of an abundance of caution we will be operating our buildings in secure mode and will be continuing to cooperate with local law enforcement.

Thank you for all the well wishes and kind gifts that students made or brought in. It has been enjoyable receiving them. Thank you for allowing me to work with your children throughout the years. I’ve enjoyed my job. I’ve enjoyed watching your children grow.
Monday is a full day of school.
Tuesday is a ½ day of school with dismissal at 12:45. Lunches will be served.
Have a great summer.
In my retirement, I will trust the new leadership to continue the tradition of student success here at GIS.
Take Care,
Mr. Cote

I hope you had a great Holiday Weekend. The students seemed to enjoy the Carnival. The dunk tank was fun. A Huge Thank You to Mrs. Jen Slabic who did majority of the planning for the Carnival. A big thank you to those volunteers who helped out. It wouldn’t be possible without you.
The was a terrific turn out for the Pastries with Parents on Friday morning. Thank you. The students love it when you show up for them.
This week is predicted to be very warm weather wise. A water bottle or two would be a good idea for this week.
Our last day of school is June 6th which is a ½ day of school. Dismissal will be at 12:45 and lunch will be served.
Have a great week.
Mr. Cote

There are a few events this week such as field days and field trips that you will have received information on from your classroom teacher. Please pay attention to the backpacks this week as there may still be permission slips in them.
We will begin collecting ChromeBooks this week Monday. Please make sure your child’s ChromeBook and charger are at school on Monday.
There will be a substitute teacher in classrooms one day this week for each grade as the teachers will be compiling the final assessment data that students worked on last school year.
This Friday, May 26th is Pastries with Parents. You will have received your grade level time from your teacher. We’ve staggered the times so parking won’t be as bad. Please report to the gym first and then you will be dismissed to go to your child’s classroom. This is not a good time for a parent teacher conference, but you can ask your teacher to set up a time for a conversation.
This Friday after lunch 1:45 we will have our Carnival. We don’t allow students from other schools to come to this event. The is for our students, and it is a reward for positive behavior they have shown this school year. Students are expected to be on their best behavior for this event.
Monday, May 29th there will be no school for Memorial Day.
Have a great week.

Happy Mother’s Day. I hope all of you enjoy your day. Thank you for sharing your children with us.
M-STEP testing has been completed by most. We do have some students who still need to complete some of the tests. Our schedule however is back to normal.
We will have a popcorn sale this Friday.
Blue and White Day this Friday.
Next week Friday, May 26th is our Pastries with Parents and our Carnival.
The next scheduled day off of school is Memorial Day.
Our new last day of school is June 6th which will be a ½ day of school.
Have a great week.

This is the last week for M-STEP testing. 5th grade will test again this week on Tuesday and Thursday. Make up testing will go on throughout the week.
Mark your calendars for May 26th. In the AM will be Pastries with Parents to go over your child’s progress and the afternoon will be our Carnival. The carnival is for Gladwin Intermediate School students only. We do not allow students from other schools to attend. Students and families have enjoyed our carnival in the past.
Our next scheduled day off is Monday, May 29th. Memorial Day.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week.
Friday is Blue and White Day.
Popcorn Sale this Friday.
Have a great week.
Mr. Cote

Thank you for having the third grade students here for the M-STEP. They have the best chance of doing great while taking the test on their normal scheduled time. This week 4th graders will be taking the M-STEP on Tuesday and Thursday. It is best if they have a good breakfast each day at home or at school. Getting a good nights sleep prior to testing is helpful too. Gladwin Intermediate Students have a history of doing well on the M-STEP and we plan to keep it that way. Encourage your child to do their best.
Friday will be a Blue and White Day.
We will be having a popcorn sale on Friday also.
Have a great week.

Due to the number of snow days we had this school year, we will need to add days to the end of the school year. June 1 and 2 are now full days of school. June 5 is a full day of school and June 6 is a half day of school.

M-STEP testing begins this week for 3rd graders. Third graders will be testing on Tuesday and Thursday this week. We ask our students to do their best on each assessment. We ask that they get a good nights sleep the evening before so they are rested and ready to go for the test. We encourage students to eat a good breakfast at home or at school on testing mornings. Their brains will be burning extra calories on testing days. We let the students know that is okay to be a little nervous about taking the test, but not so nervous that they can’t perform. Students tend to do better on the assessment when they take it at their scheduled time, so try your best to be here for the testing days.
Here is a video from Mr. Seebeck concerning the upcoming bond election. https://youtu.be/ofU63DerDI8
There will be a popcorn sale this Friday. Blue and White day this Friday.
Our fundraiser for St. Jude’s Hospital did well. We still have wrist bands to sell. We will be selling them again on Friday if your child still wants to purchase one.
Have a great week. Weather forecast is predicting colder weather this week. Don’t forget your jackets.
Mr. Cote

Happy Easter. I hope you had a wonderful Easter. The weather was beautiful.
Our next scheduled day off of school is May 29th, Memorial Day.
I have a group of students running a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Hospital. This Wednesday, Thursday and Friday they will be selling gold in color bracelets inscribed with Fight Childhood Cancer for $2.00 at lunchtime.
Afterschool pickup. If you pick your child up afterschool and you do it by staying in your vehicle and drive in the loop, we are asking that your child wait near the sidewalk that is by the school until you drive up to that area and/or just further ahead before they head to get into your vehicle. It is much safer this way, and it allows vehicles waiting to turn in from First Street to enter quicker. Thank you.
Friday will be Blue and White Day.
Popcorn Sale this Friday.
Have a great week.

Welcome Back from Spring Break. I hope all of you had a safe and relaxing break. Our next scheduled day off of school is this Friday, April 7th for Good Friday. This week will be a 4 day week.
As we get back into the swing of school this spring, the daylight will be longer and so will the will of many of our students be to stay outside playing in the evening. Remember to keep a good schedule with your children. I know play is important to their growth and development, so is sleep. I hear many of our students are signed up for baseball, softball and soccer. These spring activities are great for our students. As you get your new schedules and routines set, try to keep to them. Many of our students were reading a lot during our March Madness Reading competition. If we can keep a little of that reading going through the spring and summer would be great.
NO popcorn sale this week.
Blue and White Day will be Thursday this week.
Have a great week.
Mr. Cote

As we get closer to the election, we want to inform everyone how the bond will impact their taxes.
To calculate the impact of the bond on your taxes, take the taxable value of your home and multiply it by .0028 to find the annual cost.
Be sure to use the taxable value from your Notice of Assessment."
