These daily themes are meant to be reminders to students of the importance of living a healthy life and making safe choices. Red Ribbon Drug Awareness Week October 10-14, 2022 Monday WEAR RED DAY! Be “Red”-y to Live a Drug Free Life! Dress in Red today to show your support for a drug-free lifestyle! Tuesday PEACE OUT/TIE-DYE DAY! Don’t get “Tied” down by drugs. Wear your favorite tie dye clothing and peace out attire to show your willingness to be drug free! Wednesday DRESS YOUR BEST! Present your Best Self and Pledge to be Drug Free! (Remember it’s picture day as well!) Thursday CAMO DAY! Be a “HERO”- Join the fight against drugs! Wear camouflage clothing today to Help Encourage and Respect Others to make the choice to be DRUG FREE! Friday TEAM UP AGAINST DRUGS! Wear your favorite team sweatshirt or jersey to show you’re teaming up to fight drug use! In coordination with Red Ribbon Week, we will be collecting canned goods to make a difference in our community. Whether students bring in one can or 1500, this is a great opportunity to be good citizens and help others in need. All collected canned goods will be donated to local food pantries to benefit local families. Our theme is…….. SUCCESS COMES IN CANS – “I CAN” . . . “YOU CAN” . . . “WE CAN”! The top collecting class will enjoy a pizza party! If our school reaches our goal of 1500 cans, Mr. Coté has agreed to wear a Suma Wrestler Costume for our Red Ribbon Assembly! The Red Ribbon Assembly will take place on October 14th to celebrate all the food we collect and everybody’s promise to stay drug free. Let’s Go Gladwin! Thank you in advance for your support and participation!

Picture Day is this Wednesday.  Individualized picture envelopes were sent home with students.  If by chance you miss placed your envelope, you can pick one up at our main office.  Pictures will take place in the AM.  We are normally completed before lunch time.   Fundraiser orders will be delivered on Wednesday.  We will deliver the orders to the students in their classrooms.  If your child has a large order, you will want to make arrangements to have the orders picked up at school instead of attempting to carry it all on the bus.  The orders have been delivered to our school shortly after lunch in the past. This week is Red Ribbon Week.  We will emphasis living a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.  We like to teach our students to do positive things instead of doing drugs.  We are having a canned food drive for our local food pantry.  Our goal is to collect 1500 canned food items.  If we reach that goal, I will have to dress up in an inflatable Sumo Wrestler outfit for the Red Ribbon Assembly.  There’s also a class competition to see which class brings in the most canned goods.  Rally your friends and family to help us meet our goal of 1500 canned food items.  Attached is a flyer that has our dress up days for Red Ribbon week. We will have a popcorn sale this Friday. Have a great week. Mr. Cote

It was nice to see many of our students involved with soccer, football and cheerleading this past Saturday at the fields. I hope your seasons are successful. Our students seemed like they were enjoying the activities. This past weekend was the youth white tail deer hunt. If you had a successful hunt and would like to send a picture in for us, please email it to Mrs. Berthiaume at msberthiaume@gladwinschools.net. We will make a bulletin board of the pictures. This week we will be starting our book clubs and math clubs for all students. The book clubs and math clubs are designed to work on specific skills that each student needs help with, or a skill that will enrich the students education. These book clubs and math clubs are for every student and they take place outside of the classroom. This week Friday we will be hosting our Ice Cream Social. Please meet in the gym with me at the appropriate grade level time and then you will go to the classroom to enjoy an ice cream, learn some of the classroom rules and routines, and learn how your child did on the beginning of the year assessments we conducted. You will also have the opportunity to set learning goals with your child. At the end of the Ice Cream Social, we are asking you to please exit on time as the parking is a premium and we will need the parking for the next grades coming in. 3rd grade 2:10 – 2:30, 4th grade 1:40 – 2:00, and 5th grade 2:40 – 3:00. No Popcorn Sale this Friday due to the Ice Cream Social. Friday is Blue and White Day. Have a great week. Mr. Cote

I hope everyone was able to enjoy their Holiday Weekend. It was a little chilly outside, but not too cold to ruin a weekend. Last week our students worked hard on their assessments. This week teachers will be meeting to go over the data and build interventions for those students who need it and build enrichment activities for those who will need that. Teachers will have a substitute teacher for one day this week to build these activities. Next week Friday, September 16th we are inviting you in for our Ice Cream Social where you will see your students scores and help make goals with your student for the amount of gains we are looking to achieve. This week on Friday we will be having our Fundraiser Kickoff. We are doing a catalog fundraiser again this year. This fundraiser will raise money for our Behavior Ticket Store and other incentives for our students. This fundraiser also supports any field trips that our students may take. We are also saving to replace our electronic sign on the front of our school. Please encourage your child to participate. This Friday will be our first popcorn sale of the year. 50 cents a bag. There is more communication taking place from our school on our new APP. Search Gladwin Community Schools in your App Store or try these links: Here are direct links to the app! Download for Android https://bit.ly/3JnJvsK Download for iPhone https://apple.co/3zqRm4b This Friday will be Blue and White Day also. Let’s have a great week. Mr. Cote
